Vitalizer DB Milk Replacer

VITALIZER DB

MILK REPLACER

Profile

Vitalizer DB is a milk replacer especially for dairy beef calves to help producers lower their risk. Vitalizer DB is a unique formulation designed to promote good health and combat sickness in dairy beef calves.

About the Product

Vitalizer DB is for the producer raising dairy beef calves. These calves are often health challenged for a variety of reasons including:
  1. Co-mingling with sick calves
  2. Insufficient colostrum quantity or quality
  3. High pathogen loads
Vitalizer DB is a unique formulation of ingredients which are targeted at promoting good health and combating sickness in the dairy beef calf.

Health Enhancing Ingredients
BioMos®—a natural sugar derived from the cell wall of a select strain of yeast.  Over 500 trials on all major species and a 15 year market presence demonstrate that Bio-Mos® works. Bio-Mos® is a registered trademark of Alltech.

Encapsulated Essential Oils—a unique essential oil product that because of the proprietary encapsulation process does not adversely affect milk replacer intake. Essential oils have antimicrobial properties which can inhibit or kill bacteria.

Plasma—the proteins contained in plasma (including IgG) have shown to inhibit bacterial growth, reduce the severity of diarrhea and improve overall animal performance.

Unique Formulation
Vitalizer DB has been formulated with high B-Vitamin, Vitamin E and Vitamin C levels to support calf immunity. Organic trace minerals have also been included to support calf performance and health. The protein and fat levels along with a set feeding schedule are designed to promote starter intake in the dairy beef calf.

NT4 Medication
Vitalizer DB is medicated with Neomycin/ Oxytetracycline to aid in the prevention of bacterial enteritis (scours).

Two Phase Program Option
To reduce the cost of raising the dairy beef calf a two phase program option can be used. In this program the Vitalizer DB milk replacer is fed until approximately day 18 and then the calf is transitioned to a lower cost milk replacer such as Legend Milk Replacer which contains wheat gluten as a protein source.

FEEDING DIRECTIONS:

Day of Arrival to Day 28: Feed 2 quarts of milk replacer solution (~100°F) to calves twice a day. Offer free choice clean water and starter daily.

Day 14 to 21: Calves may be transitioned to Legend or Milk Flakes Milk Replacer for a lower cost milk replacer feeding program.

Day 29 – Day 35: Feed 2 quarts of milk replacer solution (~100°F) to calves once a day. Offer free choice clean water and starter daily.

Day 36: Wean calves if they are eating at least 2# of calf starter for 3 consecutive days. If starter consumption is not at this level, continue feeding milk once a day until it reaches this level.

COLD WEATHER FEEDING:
Calves can experience cold stress at temperatures below 50°F. Feed up to 50% more milk replacer solution per calf per feeding or add a third 2 quart feeding during periods of cold stress.

FEEDING CONSIDERATIONS:
  • Do not mix powder in water over 150°F.
  • Powder can contain variation in color and dark particles, this is normal.
  • Slow agitation of milk replacer solution during feeding is recommended to assure a proper mix to all calves.
MANAGEMENT TIPS:
  • Offer clean, fresh water at all times.
  • Clean and sanitize feeding and mixing equipment after each feeding.
  • Introduce a high quality calf starter beginning on day of arrival.
  • Avoid feeding hay prior to weaning.
