Todd’s roots in agriculture began on a beef & sheep farm in central Iowa. His family moved to Northwestern Iowa in the mid 1970’s, where he received his high school education. His family focused on positive tenets of animal agriculture and 4-H. After high school, he enrolled at Iowa State University obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1991 majoring in Animal Science. After intervening industry positions, he returned to graduate school in 2007 at South Dakota State University, receiving his Master’s Degree in ruminant nutrition in 2009.
Work experience includes Land O’ Lakes for 7 years in feed sales and management from 1992-1998. Afterwards, he fulfilled a role with the ADM (MoorMan’s and Consolidated Nutrition) for four years as Feed Sales Manager (1998-2001). The next two years Owens remained in feed sales management in New England with Blue Seal Feeds. Moving back to the Midwest, Owens spent the ensuing seven years with Standard Nutrition Company as Regional Manager/Nutrition Consultant in the dairy belt of the upper Midwest. Todd joined ILC Resources in early spring 2012 as Director of Nutrition and Technical Services. Now currently proud to be hired by Hubbard Feeds as a Dairy Nutritionist.
In his free time, Todd enjoys fishing, smoking a variety of meats, and the Green Bay Packers!
To summarize his current 25-year career, Todd has successfully contributed to animal agriculture, fulfilling roles in sales, management, and technical support. Although a ruminant nutritionist by degree, Owens has devoted his career to general involvement with multiple species – from dairy, beef and sheep to swine and poultry.
