SUMMIT +® Supplement

SUMMIT +® is a bypass protein and fat supplement formulated to provide the high producing cow with the quality rumen bypass protein and amino acids necessary to achieve top production potential.  “Summit milk” is defined as an average of the highest two milk production measurements from the first three DHI testings in a cow’s lactation. Achieving a high “summit milk” translates to a 225 pound lactation yield increase. Summit + is formulated to help maximize “summit milk” yield.

About the Product

Bypass Protein

High level of quality bypass protein (48%).  Bypass protein is commonly a limiting factor in herds receiving a large proportion of protein from high quality alfalfa forages and in most high producing herds regardless of the forage program.

High Energy

NEL of 0.93 Mcal/lb (DM basis) for high milk yields.  High fat (8.0%) to complement the bypass protein being fed to the high producing cow.

Amino Acid Balance

Contains treated soybean meal with high bypass properties.  Balanced multiple bypass protein sources to better meet the cows’ protein needs than any single source.

The Need for Additional Dietary Protein

At higher levels of milk production, it is important to provide additional dietary protein which can escape bacterial breakdown (bypass).

General Guidelines

As a general guideline, feed the above concentrates at a level to provide a forage-to-concentrate ratio ranging from 40:60 to 60:40 (DM basis), depending on level of milk production and stage of lactation.

SUMMIT + Supplement can also be fed directly as a topdress or in a total mixed ration. Depending on milk production, feed 6.0 to 10.0 pounds per cow per day for corn silage-based diets, and 4.0 to 8.0 pounds per cow per day for alfalfa-based diets.

For more precise feeding recommendations refer to the MilkCheck™ ration balancing guidelines for customizing your ration to meet your cow’s nutritional needs.
